DOZENS of golfers rallied together to battle it out for the title in a charity competition.
Competitors travelled from across Essex, Suffolk and London to take part in the day at Benton Hall, Witham, for the Tom Bowdidge Youth Cancer Foundation.
Altogether, more than £8,000 was raised to help young people with cancer. Richard Bowdidge, Co-Founder of the Foundation based in West Bergholt, said: “We haven’t been able to hold the golf day for two years and it was great to get back out there again, and with so many friends and new faces.
“A few of the golfers weren’t quite so rusty as the rest of us, so I think it’s safe to say we know they spent their time well during lockdown!
“We had some fabulous prizes throughout the day too and a big thank you must go to all our sponsors who really never fail to amaze us, especially TP Group.”
In total, 16 teams took part in the day, including Elite’s very own Rik James, who also kindly donated an advert in the magazine as part of the prizes.
The winners on the day were Lime Risk Solutions with a score of 129 points. The winner of the nearest the pin competition was Gary Carmoody, while the winner of the longest drive competition was Alex Walmsley.
Richard added: “Sadly, I didn’t win this time. But there’s always next year! Thank you to everyone who made the day as memorable as ever. After two years away from the course it was great to see so many people having fun for such a brilliant cause. Thank you to everyone.”
The Foundation has an Individual Giving Campaign where supporters can give a monthly donation.
